Italy seem to be a team that has made some progress in their group but did lose to Ireland in their last game much like Spain did against Croatia.

The payouts for Italy to win are fairly generous mostly because of Spain's dominance in world football since 2008. They are considered one of the tournament favourites as they have possibly the best team from their goalkeeper out to their midfield. If there are a few things that go against Spain in the tournament it will be the idea that people think the team is too aged. Andres Iniesta is a legendary footballer but his play to date in the tournament hasn't been very inspiring and it is hard to say if this is from his own play or simply the team that is playing around him. You could also argue that teams are trying to add extra pressure on him.

Add on the fact that Spain don't have the quality of strikers they have had in the past. We know they can score goals but they don't have the striker that drives fear into the defense of another team.

Italy have an interesting mix of players and it is one of those teams you don't know what you'll get but you know they are capable of winning any game. They might not strike fear in other teams but they certainly play football like nobody ignites fear in them.

Overall picking Spain to win is not a smart play, it is a costly win and a draw seems more likely with 2 teams playing not to lose rather than to win.
